More Information

Services for NFS feature consists of the Client for NFS component that allows Windows clients to connect and mount the NFS shares exported from non-Windows based Network Attached Storage products - such as UNIX/Linux-based NFS servers and other storage vendor products.

In Windows 7, this feature can be enabled for Windows 7 Enterprise and Ultimate editions. In Windows 8, Services for NFS feature is available only in Windows 8 Enterprise edition and not available in Windows 8 or Windows 8 Pro editions. So, when upgrading from a qualifying Windows 7 edition to any other Windows 8 edition except Windows 8 Enterprise, users will lose the capability to use Services for NFS feature thereby will not be able to access NFS shares.
