Clustered Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) folder appear empty in Component Services Console

Symptoms

When running Component Services (DCOMCNFG) on a cluster node with clustered Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) resources, the Clustered DTCs folder under the Distributed Transaction Coordinator folder will be empty even though clustered DTC resources are available on the cluster.

Cause

Clustered DTC resources require Network Name resources to function properly.  If the clustered DTC resource dependency on a Network Name resource is removed from the DTC resource, the Clustered DTCs folder will appear empty in Component Services.

Resolution

Do not remove the Network Name dependency from clustered DTC resources.  If already removed, add back a Network Name resource and dependency to the Clustered DTC resource.
