FIX: Event ID 10514 when Enterprise Single Sign-On tries to process a password change request from the PCNS in Host Integration Server 2010

Symptoms

Assume that Enterprise Single Sign-On tries to process a password change request from the Microsoft Password Change Notification Service (PCNS). The PCNS is running on a domain controller in a Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010 environment. In this situation, the password synchronization process fails, and the following event is logged in the event log:

Cause

This issue occurs because a stored procedure that is used by Enterprise Single Sign-On uses an incorrect parameter definition when it processes the password change request.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
