An update is available for the DHCP server role in Windows Server 2008 R2

This article introduces an update for the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server role in Windows Server 2008 R2.

Currently, DHCP event logging is limited to the scope level. More specifically, a DHCP event is logged only when you change the DHCP options in a particular scope.

After you install this update, a DHCP event is logged when you change the DHCP options at the server level. Additionally, the name of the user who changes the DHCP options and the property that the user changes are contained in the event log.�

The following event is logged in the Event Viewer when you change the IP Version 4 (IPv4) options at the server level:

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you must be running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Additionally, you must have the DHCP server role installed.

MUM and MANIFEST files, and the associated security catalog (.cat) files, are extremely important to maintaining the state of the updated component.
