INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • When you use more than one finger to interact with a slide in a slide show in PowerPoint 2013, the swipe and the zoom gesture may not work as you expect.
  • When you present with PowerPoint 2013, your audience can see the animation, transition, or video playing in slide show view. However, you can only see a static image in presenter view.
  • You cannot use VBA object model to open a password protected presentation in PowerPoint 2013.
  • You add a picture that contains alternative text to a presentation in PowerPoint 2013. When you export the presentation to a .pdf or .xps file, the alternative text is missing.
  • When you use the object model to paste slides into a windowless presentation in PowerPoint 2013, the slides are pasted into an incorrect presentation.
  • When you tap anywhere on a touchscreen that is larger than 30 inches to open the slide show controls in PowerPoint 2013, the controls are displayed horizontally on the lower-left side of the screen. If the view direction is set right-to-left, the controls are displayed on the lower-right side of the screen.
  • When you select Erase All Ink on Slide from the Pointer Options to delete all ink on a slide in slide show view in PowerPoint 2013, not all ink is deleted.

Registry information

Important
Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.

You can follow these steps to disable the hotfix or adjust the placement of the slide show controls:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\PowerPoint\Options\
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type LargeScreenSSToolbarBehavior, and then press Enter.
  5. In the Details pane, right-click LargeScreenSSToolbarBehavior, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type a value, and then click OK.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.
Notes
  • If you set the value of the LargeScreenSSToolbarBehavior registry key to 0, the slide show controls are always displayed horizontally on the bottom left side of the screen (or on the bottom right side, if your view direction is set right-to-left).
  • If you set the value of the LargeScreenSSToolbarBehavior registry key to 1, the slide show controls are always displayed vertically on the side of the screen you tapped.
  • If you set the value of the LargeScreenSSToolbarBehavior registry key to 2 that is default, the placement of the slide show controls changes based on the size of your screen.
