View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

You have a Windows Server 2008 R2 or later version running as a Distributed Scan Management (DSM) Scan Server. In the DSM Scan Server Configuration Wizard, you configure the Security Settings for "Do not authenticate using certificates (Less Secure)".

The scanner has an invalid certificate.

With this configuration, DSM Scan Server will reject the scan job transmission.

Cause

If the scanner presents its certificate when initiating the DSM scan job transmission to the DSM Scan Server, the client certificate will be validated by the DSM Scan Server. If the client certificate is invalid, the DSM Scan Server will reject the scan job transmission. This is done regardless of the security settings configured for the DSM Scan Server.
