More Information

Issue 1

It takes longer than expected to check in lots of files to a TFS source control if the size of the TFS database is very big.

Cause

This issue occurs because of a performance problem in the prc_PendAdd Transact-SQL stored procedure in TFS 2010.

Issue 2

When a TFS server is processing a merge operation, there may be connectivity issues.

Cause

This issue occurs because of a performance problem in the prc_PendMerge Transact-SQL stored procedure. The stored procedure locks a table until a time-out occurs on the TFS server.

Issue 3

Consider the following scenario:
  • You map a source-controlled folder in TFS 2010 to a local folder.

Note The local folder has the same folder name as the source-controlled folder. However, the two folders' names differ only by case.
  • The source-controlled folder contains shelveset files of a shelveset, and the folder is not mapped to a build agent folder in the build definition.
  • You queue a build that uses the shelveset.
In this scenario, the build operation fails, and you receive an error message that resembles the following:
TF10122: The path 'shelveset file path' contains a '$' at the beginning of a path component. Remove the '$' and try again.

Workaround

To work around this issue, map the source-controlled folder to a build agent folder in the Workspace tab in the build definition.
