File In Use Dialog Does Not Display as Expected, Windows 7 64 bit

Symptoms

A computer running Windows 732 bit has Microsoft Office 2010, specifically Word 201032 bit installed.  An add-in for Word is installed.  An un-install of the add-in is initiated while it is in use.  The expected “Files in Use” dialog will display during the uninstall.

Another computer is running Windows 764 bit with the same Word 2010 32 bit. The add-in for Word is installed. The add-in and in use does not display the “Files in Use” dialog during the uninstall.

Resolution

In both scenarios the uninstall of the Office 2010 Word Add-in is completed successfully without a reboot.
