FIX: The Straight Line Life Remaining method depreciates a fixed asset incorrectly for Germany in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Symptoms

When the Straight Line Life Remaining method is used to calculate the depreciation for a fixed asset for Germany, the depreciation value in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 is incorrect. This problem occurs when the date of the acquisition is not the first day of the business year.

Note If the date of the acquisition is the first day of the business year, this problem does not occur.

Prerequisites

You must have Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 installed to apply this hotfix.

Restart requirement

You must restart the Application Object Server (AOS) service after you apply this hotfix.

Validation of the application hotfix installation

To validate the installation of the application hotfix, open the SysHotfixManifest class in the Application Object Tree (AOT). Then, verify that there is a method name that contains the Knowledge Base article number of the installed hotfix. Additionally, you can cross-check the affected objects by viewing the KBxxxxxx.txt file against the objects in the AOT. Therefore, you can make sure that the objects are changed correctly in the SYP layer or in the GLP layer.

Note The placeholder KBxxxxxx.txt represents the Knowledge Base article number of the installed hotfix.

More Information

Acquisition adjustments in Germany always have to be considered as if they were made at the first day of the business year. This means that an acquisition adjustment should be calculated as if this transaction was made at the first day of the business year regardless of the date on which the acquisition was made in that year.

When the following parameters in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 are enabled, the depreciation for the Straight Line Life Remaining method is calculated at the beginning of the year:
  • Allow multiple acquisitions
  • Full year depreciation on additional acquisitions
