Business Desk Reports Only Limited Information Regarding Backend Database Problems

Symptoms

If the database does not exist or connectivity has been lost between the database server and the Web server and you try to access the Business Desk, the following error messages may be returned:
Errors occurred while loading part of the Business Desk.

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (0x80004005)
[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
/RetailBizDesk/global.asa, line xxx
-or-
The control could not load. Please contact your system Administrator.
-or-
Errors occurred while loading part of the Business Desk.

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (0x80004005)
Could not connect to datasource
The event logs on the Business Desk client will not report any errors. However, the application event logs on the Commerce Server may show an event similar to the following:
Event ID: 4097
Source: Commerce Server 2000
Description: Retail BusinessDesk
A connection to the database could not be established.

Confirm and correct database connectivity problems between the Commerce Server and the backend database server.
