Known issues with this security update

  • In certain situations on computers that are running Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Windows Server 2008 SP2, you may be reoffered this security update, even though the update is already installed correctly. This is a detection issue only, and you do not have to reinstall this security update if it is already installed.

    Workaround

    To work around this issue, install update 982525. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
    982525 An update rollup is available for the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 in Windows Vista SP2 and in Windows Server 2008 SP2
    Resolution 
    This detection issue was resolved in the current revision of this security update. That revision was released February 12, 2013.  

    Note for Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) server administrators We recommend that WSUS administrators sync their WSUS servers with Microsoft Update, approve the new revision of security update 2742597, and decline the old version of security update 2742597 if their server is not set for automatic Revision to Updates.
