FIX: Expected error message is not displayed when you change a work item that uses custom state transition rules in Team System Web Access 2010

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You create custom state transition rules for a customized work item type on a Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) 2010 server.
  • You use Microsoft Visual Studio Team System Web Access 2010 to change the value of the State field for a work item. The work item is based on the customized work item type.
  • A related field contains a value that does not match the changed value of the State field.
In this scenario, you do not receive an error message. The expected behavior is that you receive the following error message:
The field '<field name>' contains the value 'field name' that is not in the list of supported values.
Additionally, if you click Save in Visual Studio Team System Web Access 2010, the changes that you made to the work item are not saved.

Note This issue does not occur in Microsoft Visual Studio Team Explorer 2010.
