Memory leak or handle leak occurs in the Perflib.lib component on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7

Symptoms

Assume that an application queries certain version 2 performance counters on different threads on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7. In this situation, a memory leak or handle leak occurs in the Perflib.lib component.

For example, this issue occurs when Microsoft System Center Operations Manager monitors certain version 2 performance counters on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2.

Resolution

After you install this hotfix,�you may experience the symptoms related to System Center Operations Manager that are mentioned in�KB2878378. If this occurs, please install hotfix 2878378 to resolve the issue.

If you are installing hotfix 2734909 for the first time,�we recommend that you install�hotfix�KB2878378�instead. This hotfix is included in hotfix�2878378.

Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
