Hotfix Rollup 2733946 is available for the .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 on Windows Vista SP2 and on Windows Server 2008 SP2

Summary

This article describes hotfix rollup 2733946 for the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2). This hotfix rollup provides fixes for stability, reliability, and performance issues in the .NET Framework 2.0 SP2.

This hotfix rollup is available for the following operating systems:
  • Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2)
  • Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2)

Issues that are fixed

Issue 1

An application that is created by using Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (SP1) may crash under a heavy load, and the following exception occurs:
Exception type: System.InvalidOperationException
Message: Hashtable insert failed. Load factor too high

Note The exception occurs near the top of the following call stack:
  • System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationEventsCache.GetSerializationEventsForType

Issue 2

When some components try to collect dump files that have managed information, control inside the EnumMemDumpAllThreadsStack method encounters an infinite loop if the structure that holds the list of threads is corrupted. The looping inside the Data Access Component (DAC) causes CPU usage to spike to 100 percent when a dump file is generated. This fix avoids this nonresponse condition by handling corrupted target process memory.
