A limited testing of alternative SQL Server 2008 R2 media may be displayed to result in a successful SQL Server 2008 R2 setup, but later updates such as service packs, cumulative updates or fixes may not successfully install. A later update failure may require you to follow untested and undocumented steps in an attempt to uninstall the update or uninstall the original setup.
