Symptoms

At a command prompt, you may not be able to change folders on the Exchange 2000 installable file system (IFS) volume to a folder with a folder name that contains either of the following characters:
  • percent sign (%)
  • colon (:)
When you attempt to do so, you may receive the following error message:
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

Workaround

To work around this problem, do not use the percent sign (%) or colon (:) characters when you change folders. Instead, use the wildcard character of the asterisk (*) in addition to a portion of the folder name to change folders at a command prompt.
