Symptoms

When you use Notepad to open and close a file located on the Exchange Installable File System (IFS) volume, and you don't save the file, the Accessed date/time property is not updated to the current date and time.

Workaround

To work around this issue, use WordPad to open a file on the IFS volume. Even if you do not save the file before you close it, the Accessed date/time property is updated correctly.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
