Navigation in Parent Window stalls after opening a record dialog using Chrome in Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Symptoms

When opening a child dialog box from within a Parent Window, such as when opening a Lookup Dialog inside of a CRM record, navigation attempts on the parent record while the dialog is still open will stall or present a static "Loading" sign. 

This only occurs in the Google Chrome web browser.

Cause

This behavior is considered By Design in the Google Chrome web browser. Other cross-compatible browsers, such as Firefox or Internet Explorer, do not allow users to interact with the parent window if a child dialog is open, thus preventing the issue from occurring.

Resolution

Close or complete any open child dialog windows.

More Information

Cross Browser compatibility was introduced in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 as of Update Rollup 12 and the December 2012 Service Update for Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. Prior versions of Microsoft Dynamics CRM are not cross browser compatible.
