The following is the Exchange 2000 Server Resource Kit list of Exchange 2000 Server tools:
- Archive Sink tool. Archive Sink is a transport sink that archives all messages coming in and out of an Exchange 2000 Server computer. Archive Sink's output is triggered by two transport events: OnMessageSubmission and OnPostCategorizeArchive.
- AutoDL tool. The AutoDL tool provides an automated method to manage distribution lists. By using technologies like Active Directory and Microsoft SQL Server, the AutoDL tool can provide your users the ability to create, delete, and manage distributions lists.
- AWP tool. AWP is a simple command-line tool that removes all passwords used by the Active Directory Connector.
- Compare tool. The Compare tool compares entries in two directory services. Compare queries the first directory service with a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) query. For each returned entry, Compare attempts to find an entry that has a matching attribute in the second directory service. Compare displays attributes that you specify for both entries.
- DNParser sample. DNParser is a code sample that parses Active Directory distinguished names. The DNParser sample is designed to handle every kind of distinguished name that is discovered during the development of Exchange 2000 Server.
- DSCFlush tool. The DSCFlush tool is a simple command-line tool that clears the Exchange 2000 DSAccess cache.
- Duplicate Proxy tool. The Duplicate Proxy tool enables you to search for Active Directory directory entries that contain duplicate proxy addresses. Usually duplicate proxy addresses are not created, but in scenarios in which replication occurs, directory entries with duplicate proxy addresses can be created in different sites.
- Dxafix tool. The Dxafix.exe tool displays or deletes a record or range of records from the Xdir.edb database based on the unique sequence number of that record.
- Exchange Mailbox Merge tool. The Exchange Mailbox Merge tool allows an Exchange 2000 administrator to extract data from mailboxes on an Exchange 2000 Server computer and then merge this data into mailboxes on another Exchange 2000 Server computer.
- GAL Modify tool. The GAL Modify tool enables users to modify personal information displayed in the global address list.
- HTML4MAT tool. The HTML4MAT tool makes a Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) stream more readable by inserting spaces, line breaks, and indentations into an HTML file or HTML stream. HTML4MAT is useful if you capture an HTML stream from the network, because one line of HTML can be several hundred bytes long, especially if Extensible Markup Language (XML) and Web Distributed Authoring Version (WebDAV) are present.
- IM Superman. IM Superman is a Microsoft Visual Basic application that you can use to add contacts to your Instant Messaging Service from the Exchange global address list.
- Loadsim tool. You can use Load Simulator to test how your messaging server performs under different message loads. You can define specific workloads in Load Simulator to test servers in a controlled manner. This enables you to accurately study server behavior under specific conditions. You can use this information to help determine the optimum number of users for each server, locate performance bottlenecks, and evaluate server hardware performance.
- LPADC tool. The LPADC tool identifies password problems with Active Directory Connector (ADC) connection agreements.
- Mailbox Statistics tool. You can use the Mailbox Statistics tool to gather data about e-mail usage patterns. This MAPI tool analyzes a user's mailbox and then develops statistics, such as the number of rules in a folder and the amount of mail sent and received daily.
- Mailbox Store Finder tool. The Mailbox Store Finder tool finds all the Exchange 2000 mailbox stores in an Active Directory forest. This application simplifies migration to Exchange 2000 from another messaging system by helping you create a control file for each mailbox store.
- MailQ tool. The MailQ tool is a Web page that summarizes the mail queue lengths for a custom set of Exchange 2000 Server computers.
- Mailtest tool. Mailtest sends mail through the MAPI interface or Internet Protocol suite. This tool was originally designed for message transfer agent (MTA) testing; Internet support was added later. Mailtest helps you to test components efficiently and effectively, and performs stress testing.
- MAPISend tool. The MAPISend tool (Mapisend.exe) sends messages with optional file attachments through Exchange 2000 Server.
- MTAView tool. The MTAView tool enables users to view the contents of the Exchange 2000 Server message transfer agent (MTA) database and the objects that the database contains. The objects on each queue are displayed along with the attributes for each object and descriptions of these attributes. You can use this information to determine the originator and destination addresses for objects in the database. For example, you can identify the sender of a particular message.
- NET2STRM tool. NET2STRM converts Network Monitor display information into a readable file. For example, you can copy the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) portions of a series of Network Monitor packets to a single file and use NET2STRM to produce that file as a stream of HTML-formatted text with line breaks in a stream.
- Password Expiry Warning application. The Password Expiry Warning application is a command-line application that you can use to warn Exchange 2000 clients seven days before the client's user account password expires. The Password Expiry Warning application exists because Microsoft Windows 3.x clients that use the NetWare Netx redirector and Macintosh-based clients do not receive password expiration warnings from Microsoft Windows 2000 domain controllers.
- Profile Generation tool. The Profile Generation tool creates messaging profiles for roving users by automatically editing profile descriptor files (.prf). The Profile Generation tool also uses Automatic Profile Generator (Newprof.exe) to create profiles that are based on the edited .prf file.
- Public Folder Administration tool. The Public Folder Administration tool helps an administrator manage public folders. You can change the replicas and permissions on a folder or folder tree.
- Public Folder Tree Information tool. The Public Folder Tree Information tool counts all the messages in a selected folder and all subfolders. This tool is useful for verifying public folder replication between servers.
- Storage Management Snap-in sample. The Storage Management Snap-in sample is a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in that is built by using the Snap-in designer for Visual Basic. The Storage Management Snap-in sample provides a subset of the storage management functionality in Exchange System Manager. The sample demonstrates how to write a stand-alone snap-in with the Visual Basic snap-in designer.
- Topology Diagrammer tool. The Exchange Topology Diagrammer (ExMap) reads the Active Directory and uses Microsoft Visio 2000 to draw a diagram of the Exchange 2000 site topology. ExMap draws a simple, editable diagram showing all sites, servers, and connectors in the Exchange 2000 organization.
- Web Monitor tool. The Web Monitor tool provides a monitoring and status Web page that allows you to gain access to information about your organization's Exchange 2000 Server computers by using Windows Management Instrumentation information and Microsoft Visual Basic. This information includes details about server status, queues, disks, memory, CPU, and services.
- Winroute tool. Winroute connects to the link state port on an Exchange 2000 Server computer and extracts the link state information for the Exchange 2000 organization. Although link state information is usually a series of globally unique identifiers (GUIDs), Winroute matches the GUIDs of connectors and bridgehead servers to objects in Active Directory and presents the information in a readable format.
