BUG: MDAC 2.6 Breaks Localized Error Message on a MUI Computer

Symptoms

After you install Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) version 2.6 or 2.7 on a Multilanguage User Interface (MUI) Microsoft Windows 2000 computer, you do not see localized error messages related to data access. All the localized error messages related to data access technologies display in US English.

Cause

This problem occurs because the wrong versions of the MDAC resource DLL files are being loaded.

Currently, there is not a workaround for this problem.

Status

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in MDAC version 2.6, 2.7 for Microsoft Windows 2000 MUI.

A few items to keep in mind:
  • This only affects MUI installations.
  • The functionality of an application should not be affected.
  • Full localized versions of MDAC should return localized error messages.
  • This problem only occurs with MDAC 2.6 or 2.7.
