Custom registry setting is not applied correctly when you use Registry Filter in Windows Embedded POSReady 7 or in Windows Thin PC

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You use the Registry Filter feature to configure custom registry settings on a device that is running Windows Embedded POSReady 7 or Windows Thin PC. 
  • You use the Regfcfg.exe utility to apply the settings.
In this scenario, some registry settings are not applied correctly.

For example, you configure the following registry settings:
  • You set the DWORD value of RamdiskSize to 00000000.
  • You set the DWORD value of RamdiskFs to 00000000.
  • You set the value of RamdiskLocation to \\??\\F:.
  • You set the value of RamdiskFilename to Test.log.
Note These registry entries are located under the following registry subkey:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\WindowsEmbedded\RegFilter
You use the Regfcfg.exe utility to apply the settings. In this situation, the settings are not applied successfully. Additionally, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
The system cannot find the path specified.

Cause

This issue occurs because the Regfcfg.exe utility does not correctly read the values of registry entries that are required for setting up Registry Filter.
