You use Internet Explorer 8 to browse a website through a proxy server. When Internet Explorer 8 uses protected mode and the website uses secure sockets layer (SSL), Internet Explorer 8 shuts down.
For example, when you browse to the website through a proxy server, the proxy server opens the URL by using the POST method. In this case, protected mode for Internet Explorer 8 is turned off, and the Integrity Level (IL) is set to Medium. Because of this behavior, the website cannot be opened, and Internet Explorer 8 shuts down.
