Symptoms

Assume that a Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)-based or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1-based computer connects to a Microsoft SharePoint server by using the DirectAccess feature. Additionally, assume that you perform one of the following operations:
  • You browse files that are located on the SharePoint server by using a Microsoft Office desktop application.
  • You edit a notebook that is stored on the SharePoint server by using Microsoft OneNote.
In this situation, you receive a dialog box that prompts you to enter credentials. However, the operation does not work after you enter the credentials or after you cancel the dialog box. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
You can’t open this location using this program. Please try a different location.
