You receive SQL Server Message 916 when you open Project Transaction Transfer (PA.PTT.00) in Microsoft Dynamics SL if you are not an administrator

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Microsoft Dynamics SL:

  • In a Windows Authenticated database, you open User Maintenance (95.260.00) and then set up a new user. On the Groups tab, you do not add ADMINISTRATORS as a Group ID.
  • In Access Rights Maintenance (95.270.00), you give this user all rights to the PA.PTT.00 screen.
  • You use the user ID for this user to sign in to Microsoft Dynamics SL and then try to open Project Transaction Transfer (PA.PTT.00).

In this scenario, you receive the following error message.

SQL Server Message 916 The server principal is not able to access the database under the current security context.

However, you expect that after you give the user all rights to the PA.PTT.00 screen, the user would not also have to be a member of the Administrators group.

Resolution

Hotfix information for Microsoft Dynamics SL

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
