Delay occurs when you log on to a domain from a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a roaming user profile or remote home directory on a client computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 in an Active Directory domain environment.
  • The network connection is disconnected.
  • You try to log on to the domain from the computer.
  • During the logon process, the network connection is reconnected.
In this scenario, the logon process takes more than 30 seconds to finish.

Cause

This issue occurs because the User Profile Service Application does not instantly respond after the network connection is reconnected.

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help prevent any unauthorized changes to the file.

  • GDR service branches contain only those fixes that are widely released to address widespread, critical issues. LDR service branches contain updates in addition to widely released fixes.
  • The MANIFEST files (.manifest) and the MUM files (.mum) that are installed for each environment are listed separately in the "Additional file information for Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2" section. MUM and MANIFEST files, and the associated security catalog (.cat) files, are critical to maintaining the state of the updated component.
