Accounts do not balance when you post a payment journal after you change the date in the payment journal line in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 Service Pack 1:
  • You have a vendor that has the Calculate withholding tax check box selected.
  • You create and post an invoice for the vendor.
  • You create a payment journal.
  • You settle the payment with the invoice.
  • You change the date in the payment journal line.
In this scenario, when you post the payment journal, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
The transactions on voucher voucher number do not balance as per mm/dd/yyyy.
Posting has been canceled.

Cause

This problem occurs because the date for the withholding tax transaction is not updated to accordingly when the date of the payment is changed.

Validation of the application hotfix installation

To validate the installation of the application hotfix, open the SysHotfixManifest class in the Application Object Tree (AOT). Then, verify that there is a method whose name includes the Knowledge Base (KB) article number of the installed hotfix. Additionally, you can cross-check the affected objects by comparing the KBXXXXXX.txt file against the objects in the AOT. By doing this, you can make sure that the objects are changed correctly in the SYP layer or in the GLP layer.

Note The XXXXXX placeholder represents the KB article number of the installed hotfix.
