Hibernation feature does not work on certain HP Proliant computers that are running Windows 7 SP1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

Symptoms

When you apply hotfix 2687190 on an HP Proliant computer (for example, an HP SA P411i device) that is running Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, the hibernation feature no longer works.

Cause

This issue occurs because certain HP Proliant computers cannot hibernate when you enable Active State Power Management (ASPM) on the computer.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
