Symptoms

Assume that you create a sales order for an item that has the Manufacturing Policy field set to Make-to-Order in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009. You create a production order for the sales order by using the Create Prod.Ord function, and then you change the status of the production order to Firm Planned. In this situation, when you try to delete a component that has the Manufacturing Policy set to Make-to-Order from the production order, you receive the following error message:
Another user has modified the record for this Prod. Order Component after you retrieved it from the database.
Enter your changes again in the updated window, or start the interrupted activity again.
Identification fields and values:
Status='Firm Planned',Prod. Order No.='production ordernumber',Prod. Order Line
No.='productionorder line number',Line No.='line number'
This problem occurs in the following products:
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2
  • Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

Code changes

Note Always test code fixes in a controlled environment before you apply the fixes to your production computers.
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Change the code in the Prod. Order Line table (5406). To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Add a new global variable, and then specify the variable as follows:
      • Name: CalledFromComponent@1025
      • DataType: Boolean
    2. Create a new function as follows:
      PROCEDURE SetCalledFromComponent@3(NewCalledFromComponent@1000 : Boolean);
      CalledFromComponent := NewCalledFromComponent;
    3. Change the code in the DeleteRelations function as follows:
      Existing code
      ...
      ProdOrderComp.DELETEALL(TRUE);
      ProdOrderComp.SETRANGE("Prod. Order Line No.");
      ProdOrderComp.SETRANGE("Supplied-by Line No.","Line No.");
      IF ProdOrderComp.FIND('-') THEN
      REPEAT
      ProdOrderComp."Supplied-by Line No." := 0;
      ProdOrderComp.MODIFY;
      UNTIL ProdOrderComp.NEXT = 0;
      WhseOutputProdRelease.DeleteLine(Rec);
      ...
      Replacement code
      ...
      ProdOrderComp.DELETEALL(TRUE);

      // Add the following line.
      IF NOT CalledFromComponent THEN BEGIN

      ProdOrderComp.SETRANGE("Prod. Order Line No.");
      ProdOrderComp.SETRANGE("Supplied-by Line No.","Line No.");
      IF ProdOrderComp.FIND('-') THEN
      REPEAT
      ProdOrderComp."Supplied-by Line No." := 0;
      ProdOrderComp.MODIFY;
      UNTIL ProdOrderComp.NEXT = 0;

      // Add the following line.
      END;

      WhseOutputProdRelease.DeleteLine(Rec);
      ...
  2. Change the code in the Prod. Order Component table (5407). To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Add a new local variable in the OnDelete trigger, and then specify the variable as follows:
      • Name: NewQuantity@1003
      • DataType: Decimal
    2. Change the code in the OnDelete trigger as follows:
      Existing code
      ...
      IF ProdOrderLine.GET(Status,"Prod. Order No.","Supplied-by Line No.") THEN BEGIN

      // Delete the following lines.
      ProdOrderLine.VALIDATE(Quantity,ProdOrderLine.Quantity - "Expected Quantity");
      IF ProdOrderLine.Quantity = 0 THEN BEGIN
      // End of the lines.

      ProdOrderLine.BlockDynamicTracking(TRUE);
      ProdOrderLine.DELETE(TRUE);

      // Delete the following line.
      END ELSE

      ProdOrderLine.MODIFY;
      END;
      ...
      Replacement code
      ...
      IF ProdOrderLine.GET(Status,"Prod. Order No.","Supplied-by Line No.") THEN BEGIN

      // Add the following lines.
      NewQuantity := ProdOrderLine.Quantity - "Expected Quantity";
      IF NewQuantity = 0 THEN BEGIN
      // End of the lines.

      ProdOrderLine.BlockDynamicTracking(TRUE);

      // Add the following line.
      ProdOrderLine.SetCalledFromComponent(TRUE);

      ProdOrderLine.DELETE(TRUE);

      // Add the following lines.
      END ELSE BEGIN
      ProdOrderLine.VALIDATE(Quantity,NewQuantity);
      // End of the lines.

      ProdOrderLine.MODIFY;

      // add the following line.
      END;

      END;
      ...
