An Office installation error can happen if another program is in the middle of an install as well. To avoid the error, you can wait until the other program is done installing before starting the Office installation. If the problem still occurs, use Task Manager to stop the other installation. To do this, follow these steps:
In Windows 7
- Open Task Manager by right-clicking the taskbar, and then click Start Task Manager.
- Click the Services tab.
- Under Name, right-click msiserver, and then choose Stop Service.
- Try to install Office again.
In Windows 8
- With a mouse, move your pointer into the upper-right or lower-right corner, and them move it up or down to click Search.
With touch, swipe in from the right edge, and then tap Search. - Type Task Manager in the search box, and then tap or click Settings.
- Tap or click Task Manager under results.
- Tap or click More details, and then tap or click the Services tab.
- Under Name, tap and hold or right-click msiserver, and then choose Stop.
- Try to install Office again.
If it seems like no other program is installing and causing a conflict, try restarting the computer and start the Office installation again.
