Symptoms

Microsoft Dynamics AX AOS does not start after you upgrade from Windows Server 2008 to Windows Server 2008 R2.

Cause

The registry key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dynamics Server is lost after the upgrade. This causes the AOS service to fail to start.

Resolution

Uninstall AOS before the upgrade and re-install AOS after upgrading to Windows Server 2008 R2.
