The System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac icon unexpectedly appears in the Dock

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install Microsoft System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac.
  • You enable the Present application in Dock option.
  • You uninstall System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac.
  • You reinstall System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac.
In this scenario, the System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac icon unexpectedly appears in the Dock in Mac OS X.

Workaround

To remove the System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac icon from the Dock in Mac OS X, follow these steps: 
  1. Open System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac. To do this, click the System Center Endpoint Protection for Mac icon in the menu bar, and then click Open System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection.
  2. Click Activate advanced mode.
  3. Click Setup, and then click Enter application preferences.
  4. In the menu bar, click User.


  5. On the Interface tab, click to clear the Present application in Dock check box.

  6. Click OK.
  7. Restart System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection for Mac. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Hold down the Shift key, and then click the red letter x in the upper-left corner of the System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection window.

    2. On the Go menu, click Applications.
    3. Double-click System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection.
