Summary

The Custom File Upload Diagnostic can be used to upload a file that will be analyzed by Microsoft Support for troubleshooting purposes. It can upload a file which up to 2GB in size after compressed.

More Information

By running this diagnostic package you will be prompted to select a file that will be automatically compressed then uploaded to Microsoft Support. The total size of the uploaded results can be up to 2GB in size. On our tests, an 8GB memory dump file can be compressed to a size that is smaller than 2GB in size.

If you select a file on which the file size will be larger than 2GB after compression, the file will not be collected. In this case, you must call a support professional to ask for an alternative way to upload the requested information.

In addition to the file selected, the diagnostic also collect basic information about the system, such as machine name, domain name, time zone, antimalware, and currently logged user name.
