How to uninstall Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview


Summary

This article applies to Microsoft Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview. This product was released at the 2011 //BUILD/ conference. All prerelease versions must be removed in the correct order before you install a newer version.

Manual removal

We recommend that you uninstall Microsoft Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview first. Then, uninstall any other supporting products that are installed.

User-generated assets such as project files and custom settings are not removed or affected when you uninstall Visual Studio.

To manually uninstall Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview, follow these steps:
  1. In Control Panel, open the Programs and Features item (formerly known as Add or Remove Programs, or "ARP"). Or, follow these steps to open this item:
    1. On the Start menu, click Run (Start + R).
    2. Type control appwiz.cpl, and then click OK or press Enter.
  2. Uninstall Microsoft Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview.

For a complete removal, consider uninstalling the following shared products and system updates.

Microsoft Visual Studio 11 Developer Preview may also install the following important system updates. We recommend that you leave these updates installed on your system. Some of these may appear in Installed Updates. (Installed Updates is a link in the Windows navigation menu.)

Warning These packages may also be used by other products on the computer. These products include Visual Studio 2010, Visual Studio 2008, and any products that you or another developer built by using either of those products.
