FIX: Products from a catalog XML file that is missing carriage returns are not imported in Commerce Server 2009 R2

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You import a catalog XML file into a catalog database by using Commerce Server Catalog Manager in Microsoft Commerce Server 2009 R2.
  • Some carriage returns between the XML tags in the catalog file are missing. 
  • There are some products after the XML tags that are missing carriage returns.
In this scenario, these products are not imported into the catalog database.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you must have Commerce Server 2009 R2 installed.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, you must restart Internet Information Services (IIS) and the Commerce Server Catalog Import Host COM+ application after you apply this hotfix.

To restart IIS, open a command prompt, type the following command, and then press Enter:
IISRESET /RESTART
Note This command stops and then restarts all IIS services that are running on the computer.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix does not replace any other hotfixes.

File information

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
