The "Computers with a specific virtual application" or "Computers with a specific virtual application package" reports in System Center 2012 Configuration Manager do not display data

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You create a Microsoft Application Virtualization (App-V) Application and deploy it to a collection of users in Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager. For example, you deploy to the All Users collection.
  • After the application is installed on a client workstation, you run a Hardware Inventory cycle on the client.
  • You run the Computers with a specific virtual application or Computers with a specific virtual application package report, and you select the virtual application and the All Users collection.

In this scenario, no data about the virtual application is displayed although the application is deployed to all users. Additionally, if you run either report for the All Systems collection or for another collection of devices that contains the workstation where the virtual application is installed, the expected data is displayed.

Cause

This functionality is by design. The data that is used by these reports is from Hardware Inventory on the clients, and this data is not bound to any specific user. Additionally, the reports display information about the virtual applications that are installed on the client, regardless of whether Configuration Manager was used to deploy the applications.
