Stop 0x50 on Windows Server 2008 R2 with RealVNC VNC Server 4.6

Symptoms

When you log off a Windows session on a Microsoft Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:

STOP: 0x00000050 (0xffffffff'ffffffd0, 0x00000000'00000001, 0xfffff800`02cdda4c, 0x00000000'00000000)

Cause

This issue occurs because of a race condition that occurs in the Win32k.sys driver. The race condition occurs when you use RealVNC VNC Server 4.6 and logoff a Windows session while a VNC viewer is connected.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, contact RealVNC to obtain a fix for the issue.
