Test Order in the MTM Plan Section is ReOrdered, it is not respected in the MTM Test Section

Symptoms

To change the Order the Test are executed. In the Microsoft 2010 Test Manager (MTM) Test Center, Select the Test Tab. Select the Order button from the toolbar; this will bring up another dialog that you can re-number the order that your test is run.

Press the Update Order button and it will refresh the order of your test. 



ReOrder



Select Apply Changes to save the new test Order. Select the Test Tab. You will see the new order for the test to be run. Note you may have to select the Refresh icon to see the new order. If you still do not see the new order, you maybe experience the problem described in this article.

Cause

Mixed-Matched Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server (TFS) Service Packs.

Resolution

On the TFS Server appliation tier, Install Service Pack 1.
Microsoft Team Foundation Server 2010 Service Pack 1


On the Microsoft MTM Client, Install Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1.
Description of Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1


Note, if you already have both service packs installed and are still experiencing the behavior described in this article, the service packs may not been installed properly. It is recommended to uninstall the service packs and reinstall them. Install TFS Service pack first and see if that resolve the issue. If you are still experiencing the problem, uninstall and reinstall Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1.
