The System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Application Catalog fails after reinstalling the Application Catalog Web Service Point using different install options

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install the following system roles in Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager:
    • Application Catalog web service point
    • Application Catalog website point site 
  • You make sure that users can access the Configuration Manager Application Catalog website from client computers.
  • You uninstall the Application Catalog web service point role and then reinstall it by using different installation options such as IIS website, web application name, port, and so on.
  • Users try to access the Configuration Manager Application Catalog website.

In this scenario, the Configuration Manager Application Catalog website does not function.

Cause

This problem occurs because the Configuration Manager Application Catalog website is not automatically updated with setting changes that are made to the web service point.

Workaround

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

Reinstall the Application Catalog web service point role on the same server by using the original configuration options.

Method 2

Uninstall and then reinstall the Application Catalog website point role. This causes the current web service point settings to be applied on the reinstallation.
