Outlook Anywhere cannot be disabled in Outlook 2007 and in Outlook 2010

Summary

In updated versions of Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 and of Microsoft Outlook 2010, the Outlook Anywhere feature cannot be manually disabled. It is automatically enabled if the functionality is available in your Microsoft Exchange Server organization.

If you manually disable the Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP option for Outlook Anywhere, the option is re-enabled when Outlook is restarted or when the next Outlook AutoDiscover process runs.

This behavior was introduced with the Office Outlook 2007 hotfix package that is dated October 26, 2010 (KB2412273). This hotfix package updates the build of Outlook 2007 to 12.0.6548.5000.

For Outlook 2010, this behavior was introduced with the Outlook 2010 hotfix package that is dated October 26, 2010 (KB2405793). This hotfix package updates the build of Outlook 2010 to 14.0.5128.5000.
