XL2000: Server Application Cannot Be Found When You Open Embedded Excel Object

In Microsoft Excel 2000, when you try to edit or open an embedded Excel object, you receive the following error message:

This error message occurs when the embedded object was created from a Microsoft Excel 97 workbook, and the active worksheet in the Excel object contains an ActiveX ComboBox.

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Office 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: To temporarily work around this problem, delete the code stubs for the ComboBox. That is, delete macros that contain only a Sub statement and an End Sub statement.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 2.
