Keyboard shortcuts are incorrect in the Problem Steps Recorder tool in a localized version of Windows 7 or of Windows Server 2008 R2

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

When you use the Problem Steps Recorder tool (Psr.exe) on a computer that is running a localized version of Windows 7 or of Windows Server 2008 R2, you encounter the following issues:
  • The Problem Steps Recorder tool uses the keyboard shortcuts that are used in the English version of the tool instead of the keyboard shortcuts that is displayed in the localized version of the tool.

For example, the German version of the tool displays Alt+B as the keyboard shortcut for the Stop Record button. However, the keyboard shortcut for this button is actually Alt+O, which is used in the English version of the tool.
  • You cannot use the Space key to perform a mouse click action. Instead, you can only use the Enter key to perform a mouse click action.
