Symptoms

The DB2 data providers that are included in Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010 cannot connect to a replicated IBM DB2 database when the initial TCP/IP connection to the IBM DB2 database fails.

Cause

This problem occurs because the TCP/IP connection that the DB2 data provider uses does not return an error message when the TCP/IP connection fails. Additionally, the workload-balancing feature that is implemented by the DB2 data providers cannot connect to any of the other IBM DB2 systems that are returned in the Server List (SRVLST) parameter of the Access RDB (ACCRDB) distributed data management (DDM) command.
