The System Center 2012 Package Definition File Wizard truncates the program command line to 63 characters

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You use the Create Package from Definition Wizard tool (also known as the Package Definition File (PDF) Wizard) in Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager to create a package from a package definition file.
  • The PDF Wizard contains a program command line that contains more than 63 characters.

In this scenario, you complete the PDF Wizard successfully. However, the program command line for the newly created package is truncated. For example, the end of the command line may be missing the .msi extension. This may cause the program to fail when you run it on a client.
