FIX: An application that uses a Host File Provider may not always log on to IBM host systems when mixed-case passwords are used

Symptoms

You use a mixed-case password in an application to connect to an IBM host system in a Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010 environment. When you try to connect by using one of the following Host File Providers, the log on try may fail:
  • Managed Data Provider for Host Files
  • OLE DB Provider for AS/400 and VSAM

Cause

This issue occurs because the Host File Provider incorrectly changes mixed-case passwords into uppercase passwords before the Host File Provider sends the password to the IBM host system.

Resolution

Hotfix information

The hotfix that resolves this issue is included in cumulative update package 3 for Host Integration Server 2010.
