Memory leak in the Groupchatconsole.exe process in Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Group Chat client

Symptoms

When you run a Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Group Chat client, the Groupchatconsole.exe process consumes increasing amounts of available memory. Eventually, the process may consume sufficient memory to adversely affect computer performance.

Cause

This issue occurs because the Group Chat client does not receive the category context event when the client removes a presence subscription. Therefore, a memory leak occurs. This leak is compounded when the client creates and removes multiple subscriptions during its lifetime.

Note The Group Chat client periodically queries the presence of chat room participants in an open chat room by creating a presence subscription. This subscription covers several categories, such as contact card, state, and user color for some contacts. The subscription applies to all chat room participants. The client removes the subscription after the client receives all the subscription results.
