"Please wait for Local Session Manager" message remains for several minutes when you disconnect from a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 during the logon process

View products that this article applies to.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You try to log on to a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 and that has the Terminal Services role installed. Or you try to log on to a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 and that has the Remote Desktop Services role installed.
  • During the logon process, you disconnect from the server while the "Please wait for Local Session Manager"message is displayed on the logon screen.
In this scenario, the message remains on the screen for several minutes after you disconnect from the server. Additionally, the computer stops responding intermittently when other users try to log on to the computer.

Note The message remains on the screen longer if many users try to disconnect from the server at the same time during the logon process.
