You cannot change the time and date if the time zone is set to Samoa (UTC+13:00) and KB 2657025 is installed in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

Symptoms

You receive the following error message:
This time is not valid due to the Daylight Saving Time.
Please choose a time before 1:00:00 AM or after 11:59:59 PM.
Additionally, you receive the following message in the Date and Time item in Control Panel:
Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, April 01, 2012 at 1:00 AM. The clock is set to go forward 1380 minutes at that time.

This caused by the following scenario:
  • You install the update that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2:
    2657025 Update for 2011 calendar history in Windows operating systems
  • You change the time zone on the computer to Samoa (UTC+13:00).
  • You try to change the time and date to a value between 01:00:00 and 23:59:59 on April 01, 2012. For example, you try to change the time and date to 11:01:01 on April 01, 2012.

  • GDR service branches contain only those fixes that are widely released to address widespread, extremely important issues. LDR service branches contain hotfixes in addition to widely released fixes.
