FIX: The Forefront Threat Management Gateway Firewall service (Wspsrv.exe) may crash frequently for a published website secured by SSL after you install Service Pack 2

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010.
  • You use Forefront Threat Management Gateway to publish a secure website by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL).

In this scenario, the Forefront Threat Management Gateway Firewall service (Wspsrv.exe) may crash frequently. When this problem occurs, you may find that the following event is logged in the Application log:

Cause

This issue occurs because of a known problem that was introduced by Service Pack 2 for Forefront Threat Management Gateway 2010.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the hotfix package that is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
