Video corruption may occur in Windows 7 Media Center for some DVB-T content when switching to or from full screen mode

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You are running Windows 7 Media Center.
  • You are watching DVB-T content that is encoded in H.264 and is being broadcast at 1080i.
  • You change the Media Center window size to full screen mode or from full screen mode back to a window.

In this scenario, the DVB-T video may be come corrupted or severely pixelated for a short period of time before returning to normal.

Cause

When Windows Media Center is running full screen, it is in DirectX exclusive mode. Whenever you transition Media Center to or from full screen, it must transition in or out of DirectX exclusive mode. This may affect video playback for a short period of time.

Resolution

There is no known resolution at this time. However, the effect is temporary and will correct itself after a short period of time.
