Symptoms

When you open Group Policy Preferences and try to configure the printer item for printers that use third-party drivers, Group Policy Preferences stops responding. Additionally, you cannot perform other operations or log off the computer. This issue occurs on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008.

This issue occurs because a hidden dialog box is opened when you try to configure the printer item for printers that use third-party drivers in Group Policy Preferences.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
